Form and Freedom is an exploration of traditional and more recently created poetic forms. In this generative workshop, participants will explore how forms are developed and the many creative doors opened by adhering to the constraints they provide.

What is performance poetry? Is it different than slam? Or spoken word? This workshop is designed to expose page poets to the ins and outs of performance poetry, as well as introduce them to performance techniques that will enahance any reading.

In this generative workshop, participants will explore the poetry of personal narrative and the techniques necessary to make an individual experience accessible to a universal audience. In particular, we will discuss crafting an extended metaphor as the framework for those narratives and as a tool in performance.
